Adam and Eve received their instructions through depending on a direct connection to the voice of God in the garden of Eden. It came from the outside in undistracted bliss. Can you just imagine how His voice sounds coming from the outside without any distractions? I'm sure it came as a still small voice like a whispering in the trees. They were not distracted or pressured from any other voice. It was not a problem to hear His voice very clearly. They enjoyed it continually. Wouldn't you love to have this sense of hearing God continually?

That is why humans crave silence and peace. That is why we have vacations, sabbaticals, slowdowns, and sit downs. It is for our very survival in this noisy world that we slow down our activity from time to time. This continuous contact with His voice is available NOW from the inside out as we nurture a relationship with the Holy Spirit.

At first, we need to practice quieting our minds, slowing down through deliberate prayer and meditation. We need to quiet the outside distractions in order to learn how to quiet our soul and awaken our spirit to His voice. But the goal is to be able to keep this contact with His voice 24/7 no matter what is going on on the outside.

Start practicing by setting aside time daily to seek His voice. Ask Him to help you create the internal environment to hear Him 24/7. Ask Him to quiet your soul and awaken your spirit to His voice.
