Daily Devotional Day 36

We, like Adam and Eve are born void of the Holy Spirit's voice inside of us. We are left to respond alone without God's voice to translate for us the fallen world we live in. Without this connection, the Holy Spirit offers us in salvation, our spirit is cut off from the voice of God and therefore without any knowledge from Him.

God's voice no longer can speak above the voices coming through our five senses from this fallen world to our soul. This is why He gave gave us the Bible. It is the word of God that we can read when the traffic of this world is clouding our ability to hear. His voice is still and small and will not interrupt us or the things around us. What a terrible price we have to pay for sin and self. The consequence of Adam's choice to violate God's command brings the result of this alienation from God. We are born in disharmony from God.

A beginning step in developing the ability to hear His voice is reading the Bible.

Ask the Holy Spirit to empower you to hear His voice when you read the Bible. Ask Him to help you make a commitment to read the Bible daily. Write down what He says to you, insights, revelations, convictions or directions during your reading.
