Let us look closer at these questions because this is paramount to our spiritual progress. The question from Satan was the first new sound Eve had ever heard. She only knew the voices of Adam and God. Satan's voice came from the garden, the same place God's did. I'm sure it was both a surprise and thought provoking to hear this and possibly brought fear to her. This question could have been about anything. It was not just another sound, but it was meant to engage her. And engage her through her sense of hearing.
She was not use to this new voice. It distracted and confused her, but most of all it drew her away from the voice of God. Through this question Satan was able to first draw her attention away from the presence of God and then His voice. It pressured her to respond to this new influence and to make her fall from her contact and communion with God.
The result is she lost contact with God's voice. It was over for her from there on. The question compelled her to look inwardly to her own natural strength or her soul (mind and emotions) to answer his question. She used her mind and her own effort to be able to answer the question. This process further overshadowed God's voice. This was the devil's objective with Eve. This is his objective today to draw us to interpret outside stimuli from our own natural ability thus losing conscious contact with God!
Unlike Eve we start out with many voices in our head! Our own voice, our parent's voice, teachers, friends etc create a noisy internal world. How do we know His voice among the rest? Start by quiet meditation, prayer and reading the word.

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you distinguish between other voices and His voice. Then in faith step out on what He tells you. You must work this out by experience, through testing and faith. He wants to guide our every move! Believe it!
