Daily Devotional Day 62

Satan continually whispers in our ears his interpretation of life, hoping we will react to those interpretations compulsively and make fatal mistakes. We can be completely innocent and have the enemy steal the very life from us. Satan can continue to trick us into believing we are able to do life on our own. Then, because we are disconnected from God, Satan takes advantage of our ignorance and leads us slowly away from God's will. Being religious only adds to the problem. We think that we are pleasing to God, as long as we're doing religious things.

In Satan's scheme, it is okay if you are religious, as long as you remain disconnected from God and living in your own natural strength. He wants us to believe that we are merely talking to ourselves. We need to discern our enemy's voice just as much as God's. We need to know when he is coming to lore us off the path God has for us. He uses people, places and things continually to distract us.

Again, it is fine with Satan if you have a prayer life, as long as that connection we make with the Holy Spirit while praying does not continue when we leave the prayer room. This is one of the benefits of praying without ceasing. We must strive for a continual connection with God. The abiding life is a life connected to God 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We do not want to get to the end and God to say to us, "who are you? I never knew you."

To be fully known and loved by our Creator leads to a life worth living!

Every thought is suspect. Is it God, me or the devil speaking? Today ask the Holy Spirit to help you discern the voices in your head. Does the thought line up with God's word? The enemy rides in on our thoughts especially when we are vulnerable to emotions. Ask the Holy Spirit to point out the things that make you emotionally unstable. Ask Him to help you remain emotionally stable and strong so that the enemy has no way to influence you. Practice.
