Daily Devotional Day 66

Jesus chastised the Scribes and Pharisees for going land and sea to make converts, but making them twice the devils they were. Is it possible that we become twice the devil we were before because we are no longer seeking the real cure to our carnality?

We are no longer hungry and searching. We're just working in His kingdom hiding behind fig leaves. Often, we are led to believe this is the best it can get this side of heaven. We are given the impression that we are spiritual because our leaders infer that we are. We also have the works that show us that we are doing something for God.

We are no longer as desperate for God. We are more desperate for success. We think we have what we need to secure us. It is like our body is craving nourishment because we have been filling it up with junk food. It feels good and tastes good but offers no enduring energy. These are the fig leaves that are spoken of in Genesis. All they provide is covering for a nakedness.

Are you seeking God fervently? Has your hunger, reverence, awe, fear of the Lord waned? Are you satisfied with your relationship with Him? Ask the Holy Spirit to open up your spiritual eyes and give you revelation of your condition. Ask Him to empower you to rekindle the fire!
