Day 18

The eternal death God speaks of is estrangement from Him for all eternity. When we are conceived, we receive God's breath of life, but we lack His very nature. We are born with Adam's nature, not God's. Man is born weakened by original sin and a nature that is alienated from God. Our spirit is responsive to the world, yet darkened inside to the presence of God. Sin and our natural man offend God and cause alienation from Him and consequently His voice. Man is encapsulated by the shell of his fallen soul. Our spirit can not be influenced by God because it is encapsulated by a soul distracted by living from the outside and the constant influence of our five senses. This estrangement from God is an unimaginable death.

Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what distracts you from His influence. Ask Him to empower you to let those things go.
