Daily Devotional Day 59

We are certainly not talking about religion. We are talking about a way of living, all day long in the presence of our Creator, as it was in the garden of Eden and beyond. Let's consider the condition we find ourselves in now and what God has done to provide that cure.

We are Adam's descendants. We are born with the void in relationship and communication with God, that Adam experienced after the fall. Because Adam ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, we also now have the ability to live life without a relationship with God. We can live without His voice influencing us. At first this may sound like an asset; however, anyone that has ever heard His voice knows without it our lives are at a tremendous loss. We suffer because we're out of relationship with our heavenly Father. The unfortunate thing is that the information from the tree is only information.

That information also can give Satan the ability to give us a misinterpretation of information. If knowledge has no touch of God's character, likeness or meaning, then it is flawed in every sense of the word and the enemy can influence us. The Tree of Life on the other hand would have given us the added benefit of having His character added to what our five senses show us. This deception is present from birth. This natural strength is our Achilles heel. It is our fatal flaw. It is the very thing now that keeps us from hearing God's voice.

The emphasis on our condition without God is important to remember daily, because in our daily walk we have the choice of self dependence or God dependence. The results are very different!

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you be more God dependent. Before you start your day, ask Him for knowledge of His will and the power to carry it out.
