Daily Devotional Day 25

We were created to operate from our spirit. Before salvation, without the Holy Spirit to help us, our spirit remains dead to any areas pertaining to the Spirit of God. It is literally alienated from God. We can believe in our mind information concerning God and believe in Him, but we can not come in contact with Him. It is like a receiver that just hasn't turned on yet. We lack the experiential knowledge of God. We have superficial knowledge without relationship. We are literally left to ourselves.

Both before and after salvation, our spirit can and will be overshadowed or overwhelmed by our soul. If our soul is overbearing and our spirit is weak, through neglect, we will operate from the soul. We see this in King David's Psalm 39. Soul domination occurs most times from distractions through the five senses. Our souls can overwhelm, dominate, and control our lives. T

he life worth living is the Holy Spirit leading our spirit, which in turn leads the soul. It is a spirit led life!

In Psalm 39, David attempts self-control and fails. He realizes he needs God's help. Is there an area in which you lack self-control? Ask the Holy Spirit to empower your spirit to take control. Ask His help to lead a life guided by the spirit.
