Day 26
Self-control is when our soul (mind, emotion and will) is dominated by our spirit. Some do it naturally and do well; others haven't any strength to live this way until God strengthens them. It is a process and we must learn to come into it. It is the way of peace. At first it takes slowing down, but eventually, it moves faster.
The next step toward perfection is when our spirit is joined with the Holy Spirit, and information is processed, not only by our spirit but by the Holy Spirit in us. Only the influence from the Holy Spirit from the inside-out will allow us to succeed in life. Even with self-control, if we are without the Holy Spirit, we will only live from a strong spirit.

That is why strong spirited people have a hard time responding to God's Spirit. They sense it as an intrusion into their spirit. They are secure and happy in being able to maintain control. It gives them a sense of being in control and, therefore, gives them a sense of security. Without the Holy Spirit's guidance, it is a false hope.
When He is in us, He will work wonders to bring us into the knowledge and rest of God. It is surely worth working to submit to Him. The enemy has blinded the minds of God's people. It takes faith in Him, after He first reveals Himself to us, to submit to Him. Then we can see clearly.
Can you sense the Holy Spirit's leading? Meditate on this sensing. Ask the Holy Spirit to show Himself more and more! Our prayer is more of You Lord, less of me!
